Deborah Pardo-Kaplan is a freelance journalist focusing on religion as well as health, politics, and culture. She has written for numerous publications (and media services) including Christianity Today, Sojourners, Religion News Service, ATX Woman, Healthcare Journal of Baton Rouge/New Orleans, Science and Theology News, Babyzone.com, and The Kennedy School of Government Bulletin. She is a member of Religion News Association.

Deborah holds a master's degree from McGill University in Jewish Studies and a master's of journalism from Columbia University. She also appreciates her library technician's degree which granted her ten years at the Jewish Public Library in Montreal and five years in the Harvard University Library system. 

She was born in Montreal, Canada, and has lived in Vancouver, B.C., Manhattan, Boston, New Haven, and Austin. Deborah also served for more than two years as Library Commissioner (District 10) for the City of Austin.
